While this is a canonical lore video for my Warriors OCs, this quick project was really more of a way for me to work through some personal stuff through my art. Grief can be difficult and complicated, but we are so very lucky to be able to live and love as we do, for as long as we are able. Hug your loved ones, man.
"Oh what a joy to live!
How very special are we,
For just a moment to be,
Part of life's eternal rhyme."
– Debbie Reynolds and Irwin Kostal's "Mother Earth And Father Time", from Charlotte's Web (1973)

Anywho! The lore for this video is about Hooktail’s parents, Silverhook and Spruceheart. Spruceheart was Silverhook’s mate and Hooktail’s father. He died in battle when Hooktail was very young (a kit). Silverhook has recurring nightmares about her husband’s death, and worries about what the future holds for her young daughter.
I plan to do more videos regarding this family, the life they had before, how they work through their grief, etc.

Characters in order of appearance:
Silverhook (scarred grey she-cat with a dark under-eye beauty mark)
Spruceheart (brown tom with dark chest fur), Silverhook’s mate
4 random warriors from Silverhook’s clan (future storylines & significance TBD)
(L→R) Mistgloom (grey she-cat with bangs and a pale under-eye beauty mark), Hookkit (brown kitten with a pale underbelly), and Snailstone (old grey scarred she-cat with bangs). Mistgloom is Silverhook’s sister, Hookkit is the daughter of Silverhook and Spruceheart, and Snailstone was Silverhook’s mentor.
(L→R) Fluffypaw (splotchy white-and-grey cat), Snailstone’s grandchild and Spruceheart’s apprentice, and Blueviolet (dark-furred tom with a shoulder wound), the clan’s healer.

I can’t remember if it was this MEP ( • My Mom [Complete} ) or this Speckletail PMV ( • [Speckletail/Snowkit] My Mom **CARTOON GO... ) which introduced “My Mom” to me. But the song has occupied a special space in my mind for many years. While parts of it can be disturbing to listen to, I do find it a comfort in trying times such as these. And revisiting these old adaptations of Dawson’s song is so nostalgic!
So many AMVs & PMVs have been made to this song, that I would not be able to list them all in Video Recs here. But I do encourage you to check them out, there's lots of different fandoms and interpretations for the lyrics which I find so interesting. : )

“Death is nothing at all.
I have only slipped away to the next room.
I am I and you are you.
Whatever we were to each other,
That, we still are.
[...] All is well.
Nothing is hurt; nothing is lost.
One brief moment and all will be as it was before.
How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting when we meet again.”
– Abridged excerpt of Henry Scott-Holland’s poem, “Death is Nothing At All” (1910)
