Point Cloud in Augmented Reality (AR)
Augmented Reality (AR) allows us to visualise how models react and interact with real-world site conditions. This is just one of the many benefits AR can bring to AEC projects.
We've taken this integration a step further in recent trials by incorporating segments of point cloud data alongside the BIM model, bringing the site to us!
Why? The point cloud validates and visually communicates how the steel has been modelled to fit the as-built site without the need to travel to site.
We are also exploring using AR to overlay 3D dimensions onto sites, replacing our site team's use of set-out or installation drawings.
