Battle of the Planets Lunchbox, 1979.

Dug this gem up in the vast archives room at Indolent Polymath Studios today and thought I would share. Battle of the Planets (aka Science Ninja Team Gatchaman) was my first brush with animation coming out of Japan in the late 1970s. I was instantly hooked. My friends and I would watch it after school daily on our local UHF channel and pretend to be Mark and Jason and battle Zoltar on the playground during recess. My friend Gus had this lunchbox and I was green with envy every time he popped in open in the cafeteria. I picked this up on eBay a few years back (w/o Thermos) in a weak moment, in a "midlifecrisisesque" attempt to recapture some of my childhood. It now resides in the pop culture section of the archives where I can harness its potential energy and transport myself back to 1979 whenever I want.
