Georgios Zaimis - Celestial dance (original synthwave | D-50)
My second original retro-electro / synthwave composition here in YouTube, this time playing on another classic and all-time favorite synthesizer, the Roland D-50, which first came out in 1987.
Every sound, including its effects and even the drums are produced solely by the sound engine of the D-50. Of course, most of the sound patches I use are custom, but I also use a few signature ones. I guess that whoever knows the synth, will immediately recognize the distinct "DigitalNativeDance" and "Griitttarr" signature sounds.
As the main musical influence for this piece, I would cite Jean-Michel Jarre, especially his “Revolutions” album, released in 1988, where the D-50 is heavily used.
I haven’t used any sequencer or arpeggiator, not even the “Chase” function of the instrument. I’ve played every single note manually and applied quantization, apart from the solo lead parts. Hope you enjoy it!
