In this video, we go over a technique for making foliage darker in the center of the volume of foliage and brighter toward the outside edges. This is based on the idea that more light occlusion happens toward the center than on the outside. After calculating this occlusion, we apply it to the shader's specular, AO, and subsurface color inputs. The resulting foliage feels much more volumetric and has more depth instead of looking flat.
