Erocis - The Sunken Lands (FULL ALBUM)
The Sunken Lands, released on March 7, 2025, marks the debut full-length album by the French epic folk metal band Erocis, originally from Paris. This album is the second chapter in a conceptual saga set in the fantasy world of Aetanria, which began with the EP The Prelude (2022), which explored themes of griffin knights and dragon tyrants.
Here, the narrative evolves into a dark and heroic journey: a hero chosen by the gods, wielding a legendary sword, embarks on a dragon-hunting adventure through the sunken lands, facing dark forests, serpent kings, and ancient aquatic deities.
With 11 tracks, the album is an immersive sonic tapestry, blending heavy, churning riffs with spectral and ethereal vocals, evoking the grandeur of bands like Eluveitie or Ensiferum, but with a unique touch of dark and cinematic French folk. The production is confident and masterful, with ebbs and flows that guide the listener through peaks of brutal aggression and valleys of contemplative melody, creating an experience that feels like a soundtrack to an epic RPG.
Critics praised the "delectable" and "riveting" execution, praising how Erocis already masters the genre with intimacy, exceeding expectations for a debut.
