Alisha Liston - Poison Tea [LIVE Performance Music Video]
For a while now, I’ve been working on a new album. It’s called Dreamland, and it follows the adventures of Lux, a weary child from the Elyswth kingdom. Devastated by an unknown disease, Lux could hardly call the place “home.” Desperate to find an antidote, the tiny traveler ventures outside the kingdom, only to wander into this otherworldly place they’ve documented as “Dreamland.” Captivated by its alluring whispering Stardew forest, bittersweet endearing flora, and gentle mournsprite creatures, Lux almost forgets they’re dying. It isn’t until Lux realizes they need to face the root cause of their disease before they can find a cure that can heal them.
Poison Tea is the 6th song on the album, and it speaks to the use of unhealthy coping mechanisms as a way to escape emotional parasites like anxiety and depression. While these unhealthy coping mechanisms can provide some temporary relief, the parasite itself doesn’t go away. It keeps growing and the desire for relief become stronger.
Little about the video: If you’ve been following me for a while, you know I like to create performance videos of my new songs. We had finished Poison Tea and Idrise, DJ and I working on another song from the album. We were at one of the Trivista Entertainment properties. We took a break and went out to the backyard. I couldn’t believe it. It was the perfect filming location for Poison Tea. The only this was for us to make it work with the sunlight we’d have to film it early in the morning and at that time the temperature was just barely hitting 50F. Okay. I’m in …. but, BURRRRR it was cold. Without further adieu, this is Poison Tea.
