Building physics circus – Building physics experiments – Saving energy without mold
The project "Building Physics Experiments – Living Damage-Free with Little Heating Energy"
Does insulation really help? Doesn't it cause mold? How do I ventilate properly? Don't walls have to be able to breathe?
Behind such questions and reservations often lie building physics relationships that initially seem complicated. But that doesn't have to be the case. Wilfried Walther, a building physics expert, at the Energy and Environment Center am Deister in Springe, shows how we can clearly explain building physics. He developed twenty different experiments that can be used to answer the above questions in an understandable way. The project was funded by the German Federal Environmental Foundation and the IKEA Foundation, and financially supported by BlowerDoor GmbH, pro clima Moll bauökologische Produkte GmbH, and Vallox GmbH.

Energy and Environment Center at the Deister
The Energy and Environment Center at the Deister (e.u.[z.]) was founded in 1981 as the first educational center for renewable energies and ecological construction in Germany. On its natural grounds, the e.u.[z.] demonstrates how the energy transition can be implemented with buildings built to low-energy and passive house standards, solar panels, a constructed wetland, and much more. At its seminars and conferences, building professionals gain directly applicable practical knowledge on topics such as airtightness, building physics, renewable energies, and timber construction. The e.u.[z.] also offers guest rooms and facilities, as well as vegan and vegetarian meals.
