Curb Your Piracy | Sea of Thieves
Don't get careless on the Sea, always take precautions and trust your instincts.
For context, we ran into this crew and were boarded by one of them 3 hours before this. We discussed the possibility of them seeing our Athena voyage and setting a trap at Morrows Peak, especially considering the outfit and loadout of the guy who boarded us (all black clothes, no shoes/boots, sweaty sniper/blunderbuss combo). We let our guard down as we arrived because we had Morrow's within view for at least 2 hours and nobody visited it in that time, and we both had to get off relatively quickly. Turns out they did check our voyage and waited for well over 2 hours. Kinda cringe.
Normally to avoid this, we:
1) Get anchor up immediately if we drop it, so all we have to do is get back on the ship and drop sails to escape.
2) Send one person on to scout the island for obvious traps and sleeping players, sometimes with something relatively valuable to make it more enticing to reveal themselves early. Keep one person on the boat to guard ladders until we decide it's clear.
3) Turn in at a different outpost altogether if we suspect we've been compromised and a trap is waiting.
Thankfully, the pitiful amount of gold and rep isn't that big of a deal to us, it's just the wasted time that sucks.
