How does it feel to finish?
Would you like to know!
The answers range from delirious to messy, to joyful, to sad and to many things in between.
Typing 'THE END' is an experience not many authors experience, would you believe...
They say over 80% of adults want to write a book but only 3% ever get to 'The End' of a draft? That means that 97% of people who want to write a book never finish.
If you don't want to feature in those statistics, there are a few things that can enable writers to finish their story and first draft relatively painlessly.
And we know what they are!
Here are four we know work for our members...
1. Set clear goals and deadlines - nothing in life happens without a plan.
2. Create a writing routine - committing to even 30 minutes a week makes a difference to your writing success.
3. Silence your inner critic - don't worry about getting everything right; the goal is to get your ideas down on paper.
4. Accountability partners or groups: Joining a writing group (like Writers Ink) or finding an accountability partner can provide support, encouragement, and a sense of community as you work on your story.
If that saggy middle has stalled you or the blank page is giving you anxiety, keep an eye out for the next opening of our online Facebook community, Writers Ink.
