We at Datopian are partners in the NextGEOSS project.
In this series of explanatory video snippets, we'll be introducing different aspects of our work and elucidate our contribution to NextGEOSS, tackling for example OpenSearch or CKAN.
CKAN started off in 2007 at the Open Knowledge Foundation, a nonprofit that is dedicated to seeing fair and equitable societies through equal access to knowledge and data.
CKAN was really designed along this mission, and since then it’s grown with the open data movement.
It is nowadays a much more powerful data management system;
Its many features around raw publication and access grew to a great extent and are part of its core functionality.
There are hundreds of CKAN portals live, with hundreds of thousands of datasets being used.
