Crawling and Racing an Amphibious 8x8 UTV! | BeamNG.Drive 0.27 FPU Wydra Update
BeamNG's biggest update came with all new off-road trucks and cars, but none as peculiar as the FPU Wydra UTV. This quirky 8x8 with 4x4 is crazy to race and crawl with, having tank controls and surprising versatility as a narrow amphibious off-roader with towing abilities. That said, most can't exceed 25 mph, so it takes harsh terrain for them to shine. I showcase it in the new West Coast USA Quarry and the Industrial boggy swamps and autocross courses.
The 4x4 has massive paddle wheels that act as suspension from the give in the tires, while the 8x8 makes for a very rough ride over anything bumpy. The custom version can actually hit 50 mph, behaving more like an insane go-kart than an ATV and making for fun BeamMP sim races that look authentic to real footage I've seen of UTV racing down to the sudden rollovers. The Mudmaster is great for stunts as well, able to do endo stoppie tricks with ease. You can even all-wheel drift the Custom and use the slip angle, but the touchy steering won't make it easy or consistent. Awesome addition to update 0.27.
