How Bright Appears the Morning Star
This hymn is taken from The Hymnal 1982 and is based on the Choral melody Wie Schön Leuchtet which is attributed to Philipp Nicolai (1556-1608). The arrangement and Harmony are from J. S. Bach (1685-1750) and the english translation is from William Mercer (1811-1873). It tells the story and purpose of the birth of our savior Jesus Christ and the bright star which points toward his birth place. I recorded this on the Craighead-Saunders organ (2008) of Christ Church in Rochester, NY. June 14, 2018. I am playing an introduction and the 3 verses of the hymn.
