The "Camarillo" is the Camarillo State Hospital (psychiatric hospital) in Ventura County, California. Parker was sent there for six months after spending 10 days in jail, charged with indecent exposure, resisting arrest and alleged arson.
Upon leaving the hospital, this composition was one of the resulting songs.
Ross Russell, director of Dial Records, titled this jazz instrumental "Relaxin' At Camarillo." Parker wanted to call him "Past due" and was not satisfied with Russell's title.
Joe Pass recorded this version in 1964 but it wasn't released until 1981.
The transcription took me several hours, so I hope it will be of benefit to many.
It is strange to think of the strange journey of this song until arriving at this place in 2021 in a world hit by a virus...it seems that we all live in Camarillo today.

"Camarillo" es el Hospital Estatal de Camarillo (hospital psiquiátrico) en el condado de Ventura, California. Parker fue enviado allí durante 6 meses luego de pasar 10 días en la cárcel, acusado de exposición indecente, resistencia al arresto y presunto incendio provocado.
Al salir del hospital, esta es composición fue una de las canciones resultantes.
Ross Russell, director de Dial Records, tituló este instrumental de jazz "Relaxin 'At Camarillo". Parker quería llamarlo "Vencido" (Past due) y no estaba satisfecho con el título de Russell.
Joe Pass grabo esta versión en 1964 pero no vio la luz recién hasta 1981.
Me tomó varias horas la transcripción, asi que espero que sea de provecho de muchos. Es raro pensar el extraño recorrido de esta canción hasta llegar a este lugar en 2021 en un mundo golpeado por un virus...pareciera que todos vivimos en Camarillo hoy.
