A brief sample of Leitch Viewguard analog video scrambling captured during the 33rd CMA Awards on KMEG-TV. When I uploaded this a while back, I wasn't entirely sure if this was a technical glitch on part of KMEG or whoever taped this back in 1999, however some research led me to believe that it was the fault of the station, though as of editing this description I'm not entirely too sure how accurate the proof is.

Reportedly, this was the system used by CBS at one point, however the only mention I've been able to find was from a forum post on RadioDiscussions in 2009, with no other place on the internet mentioning this to my knowledge. The only other thing of note I've been able to find was that CBS was using VideoCipher I to scramble its feeds from 1987 to somewhere in the mid-1990s, so this recording could've been from it? I haven't been able to find any clip of VideoCipher I in action to prove it, so your guess is as good as mine. Regardless, I am still to believe the local affiliate was to blame.

Recorded from KMEG (former CBS affiliate for Sioux CIty, IA) on September 22, 1999. Digitized from VHS using a Panasonic PV-9451 and a DMR-ES15. De-interlaced with QTGMC/AviSynth+.
