Running The London Landmarks Half Marathon - Do Half Marathons Get Any More Iconic?
The London Landmarks Half Marathon is a race that has interested me for years. Being an entry or charity place entry only event, those that can get into this well known half marathon can enjoy a culture filled jog through the streets of London. I was lucky enough to secure a place via the ballot entry, so I headed up to London one bright and sunny April morning and decided to document my experience.
My hope is that this video can serve as a decent point of view experience of what it’s like to run the London Landmarks Half Marathon.
My time was slow for what I know I'm able to achieve as I was recovering from a pretty bad shin splint injury. Injuries aside, I was just grateful to take part and get running again.
So, why exactly is it called the ‘landmarks’ half marathon? The capital of England boasts many rich and historic landmarks which runners can enjoy during the route including:
Trafalgar Square
Somerset House
The Shard
The London Eye
The Bank of England
The Royal Courts of Justice
Big Ben
UK Parliament
The ‘Walkie Talkie’ building
The ‘Cheese Grater’ Building
Tower Bridge
The Tower of London
The Gherkin
Monument
