Zambia’s healthcare system transformation . The Levy Teaching hospital.
We have increased the Levy Hospital’s capacity from 239 to over 800 beds and upgraded it to a teaching hospital where more than 3000 Zambian students can receive technical education and obtain practice hours. We know the healthcare system can only become stronger if we work on all fronts, from the construction of new medical centers all over the country, to a better medical education and services. It is my vision that our people should have access to cost effective and quality health care services as close to their families as possible, no matter in which corner of Zambia they are living. This is why my government has implemented an on-going robust programme of constructing health facilities across the country, improving the health sector in terms of infrastructure, quality care and access.
We have built a firm foundation but there is still more to be done and we are ready to make it happen.
