In this video I show you guys how I like to add the cue for Come When Called. It's the easiest way I know. I also really like this method because it lets you say the cue "Bentley, Come!" exactly like you would in the final behavior.
A lot of people don't like using positive reinforcement techniques because they feel silly hooting and hollering (...like I do in this video).
It is true that to get this behavior we are acting pretty goofy, running away from our dog and using high-pitched voices.
But that is just for the teaching phase! We teach the dog to respond to the normal-sounding cue, "Bentley, Come!" However it is important to get the behavior you want before adding the cue, and to do that we don't mind acting silly for a little while. ;)
