For our April 1 Anniversary in 2023, we went to Descanso Gardens (I also posted a couple of videos of our visit to the Gardens on Valentines' Day 2023). We went to see the tulips in bloom. We have been to The Netherlands and seen some remarkable tulip fields, but it was fun to see such a nice array locally. I decided to accompany the video of our quick spin around the flowers with my Anniversary song, April Fools. Another video version of the song is also available on YouTube, but this seemed appropriate today. I have two other short videos from our visit to Descanso Gardens that I will be posting soon and adding to my Instrumental Travelogue Playlist on YouTube.
Here are the lyrics to the song:
April Fools
Although this is a simple song—
A song of love I wrote for you—
I do not fail to comprehend
Complexity in all we do,
For I would be an April Fool
On this our anniversary:
I offer more than flower or jewel
To show how much you are to me.
I’ve loved you more than half my life;
I loved you long before you knew,
And when you promised to be my wife,
I felt no doubt in my own “I do.”
For I would be an April Fool
On this our anniversary:
I offer more than flower or jewel
To show how much you are to me.
Although this is a simple song—
A song of love I wrote for you—
I offer more than flower or jewel:
I said it all when I said, “I do!”
For we would be two April Fools
On this our anniversary:
We offer more than flowers or jewels
We said it all when we said, “I do.”
