Lewis and Clark: West! (1804) Session 2
The journey of Lewis and Clark to the Pacific (and back home) is one of America's most iconic stories. Frankly, not one of them should've survived this trip...but they did...all but one (and he died of causes unrelated to the expedition). It's a journey of grit, hardship, failure, joy, and triumph.
In this second session, travel with the Corps of Discovery from St. Louis, MO to the Mandan Villages, ND in their first full season (1804). Along the way, the party will meet several bands of Indians, including the ferocious and intimidating Teton (Lakota) Sioux, who nearly stopped the expedition entirely. Ultimately the Corps will reach the Mandan Villages where they'll suffer through sub-zero temps and heavy snow. They'll also meet Sacagawea, a Shoshone bride of a French trader, who'll become America's most famous indigenous woman.
