The Employment Protection Plan (PSE), formerly known as the social plan, aims to minimize the impact of collective redundancies. Established in 1989, it requires companies with at least 50 employees that lay off more than 10 employees within a 30-day period to implement redeployment measures.

A PSE can be negotiated with unions or established unilaterally after consultation with the Social and Economic Committee (CSE) and validation by the Regional Directorate for Labor, Employment and Vocational Training (DREETS). It comprises several stages: development, consultation with employee representatives, and approval by the DREETS. A dismissal without this approval is invalid.
