After a long while, we are back with Demos Showcases. The demo i covering today marks the first time I'm bringing Resident Evil to the channel. I not a fan of horror games, though Resident Evil is a exception. The survival feeling and items management is what makes like the series, being Resident Evil 4 my personal favorite. Recently I played and finished the second game for the first time, and I loved it. So I decided to check its demo from a Preview Disc, which consists in playing as Leon Kennedy from the streets of Raccoon City to the police department. That is the premise of Leon's Scenario A in the full game, which is interesting, because that and Claire's Scenario B ain't the canonical story segment of RE2. With Claire A and Leon B being the canon one.
One thing i like to do when playing a demo is point out differences on it from the full game, and this has alot of differences. To start, the menu is different, which looks pretty much the same from Resident Evil 1.5, the famous canceled prototype version of RE2 that was vastly different from the final version we know. The Pistol ammo box is orange when you pick it up, though in the inventory is already the red box from the final version. Also in the inventory, we can see a beta icon for Leon, which makes his haircut looks like to John Connor from Terminator 2. In the Kendo's gun shop there's a typewriter where the data is saved in the full game, though is not in the shop on the final version. The alleyway passing the basketball court is open and leads to RPD in the demo, while in the final version its closed and you have to pass through the court, leading to a longer way to the police department. Inside RPD, there's other changes. There's a camera angle focusing in the computer monitor, something that is not in the final version. The keys that opens the available doors in the demo are normal ones with different colors, while in the final version each key has a specific format to differentiate themselves. There's a music that plays on the corridor near the safe room that is not on the final version. And finally, the corridor with the statues puzzle has a music playing, while there's no music on the S.T.A.R.S. room. In the final version, the corridor has another music playing and the music from here is in the S.T.A.R.S. room. These are all differences from the demo and full game i managed to spot. If you know anything else I didn't saw, let me know in the comments.
