Whanganui's Cooks Gardens hosted the first Tokyo Olympic qualifying event in the world tonight. Featured in tonights 1500m attempt was Sam Tanner who clocked 8.38.04 - narrowly missing out on the track record by 0.01 of a second. Eric Speakman came in 2nd. Benjamin Wall and Hamish Carson paced them through the first 800m and 1200m respectively.
