God will Replace Our Bad Deeds with Good (Quran 25:70) | Inspiring Verses of the Quran
Dr. Shabir Ally and Dr. Safiyyah Ally discuss Quran 25:70, which says: "As for those who repent and believe and do good deeds, God will replace their sins with good, for God is forgiving and merciful."
Dr. Safiyyah says that when we think about the sins they've committed, we can feel weighed down, but God is telling us that He won't just forgive our sins; He'll go beyond that and change our sins into good deeds. Dr. Shabir shares some scholarly interpretations of what it means for God to change our evil deeds into good. It could apply to this world, in that when a person repents, God guides them to do good. It could also mean that in our individual record of deeds, God will erase the past misdeeds that we have done and as we do good, God will write those good deeds in replacement of the evil.
