Hogslop String Band - Reuben's Train - Live at Acme Feed & Seed
Ironically, it's somewhat refreshing to see a band hold true to traditional arrangements, instruments, and songs in an age dominated by youthful popsters and DJs. Nashville's own Hogslop String Band accomplishes just that every time they take the stage. These guys understand they don't have to reinvent the wheel to play good music, and play "good" they certainly do, but rather entrench themselves in traditional folk and bluegrass numbers whose inspiration bleeds clearly into their own modern originals.
We've been fans of theirs for a very long time now, so we were thrilled to have them back on the Acme stage. Here, the raucous group performs an old train-song, "Reuben's Train," which dates all the way back to 1924 when Fiddlin' John Carson created the first recording of the tune. Pretty neat.
