CISO and CHRO -Cyber Security Perspective | Mehzad Sahar
In the corporate environment, cybersecurity presents unique challenges from both the CISO (Chief Information Security Officer) and CHRO (Chief Human Resources Officer) perspectives, each vital to ensuring robust security measures across technical and human dimensions. For the CISO, primary concerns lie in the ever-evolving nature of cyber threats, including phishing attacks, data breaches, and ransomware, which require continuous adaptation of security protocols and the integration of advanced technologies like AI-driven threat detection. Balancing security measures with operational efficiency can be challenging, as over-restrictive controls may hinder productivity, while lenient policies can expose the organization to vulnerabilities. From the CHRO’s perspective, cybersecurity challenges are deeply connected to human factors, such as building a security-aware culture, reducing insider threats, and managing sensitive employee data responsibly. The CHRO plays a key role in ensuring that employees are trained in cybersecurity best practices, as human error remains one of the leading causes of breaches. Both CISOs and CHROs must work collaboratively to address these challenges, aligning on policies, educating employees, and fostering a workplace culture where cybersecurity is a shared responsibility. This alignment is essential for establishing a holistic cybersecurity framework that safeguards both digital and human assets in the organization.
