How to synthesise a simple, 808-style kick drum using Ableton Live's Operator
Most people use samples for their kick drums, but synthesising a kick drum allows much more flexibility for shaping the sound. Ableton Live's Operator is an inexpensive plugin (or free if you have the Suite) that is all you need for crafting kicks and other percussive sounds (covered in later tutorials) suitable for many different genres of music.
