Microsoft 365 Developers!

Your audience is changing! It's no longer just users, it's also Copilot! Copilot chooses plugins for users now, so you need to understand how it does that and how you can ensure that it chooses your plugin!

**Sorry, there's an error in the video which means there is only voice audio on one channel. I'm aware of it, but I'm also at MVP Summit so I don't have the tools to fix it here.**

In this video, I discuss the changing landscape for Microsoft 365 developers. I highlight the shift towards automating decision-making about which messaging extensions are shown to users. I break down Copilot's selection process into two parts: 'shortlisting' and 'reasoning'. Shortlisting involves choosing from a variety of apps, while reasoning involves breaking down a user's request into tasks and matching those tasks to skills in the plugins.

I then provide advice on how to ensure your app gets selected. I stress the importance of rewriting app descriptions, titles, and names to clearly express the app's value and functionality, aiming these descriptions at Copilot rather than human users. Furthermore, I emphasize the importance of descriptive skill descriptions and parameters, as they allow Copilot to understand what skills the app has and how it can map those to user tasks.

I really encourage you to revisit your app manifests, refining names, titles, descriptions, and parameters to match the needs of Copilot.

I hope this information is useful to you and helps you to ensure your plugins seamlessly integrate with Copilot, providing users with effective results.
