In this video I dive into how you can easily build your first Copilot plugin, even if you're not a developer. I walk you through the process step-by-step, starting with some simple sample code that we will adapt.
The plugin we will create supports the idea of a communication manifesto. This manifesto outlines how we want to interact through our emails and Microsoft Teams messages, such as focusing on being kind, courteous, and constructive. The beauty of this plugin is its ability to analyze your emails, comparing them to your manifesto, and then notify you when they don't align, encouraging better email communication habits.
I demonstrate the process using Visual Studio Code and the Teams Toolkit extension, showing how to adapt sample code to create a messaging extension. Then, I guide you through configuring your plugin to communicate your personalized communication standards to Copilot.
Deploying and testing the plugin involves provisioning and publishing it to Azure and then sideloading it into Teams to use with Copilot. By the end of this tutorial, you’ll have a functional Copilot plugin designed to help improve your email communication based on your own rules.
Remember, this process is kept simple and assumes some familiarity with Azure. My goal is to empower you to create something impactful without needing deep technical knowledge. Let me know your thoughts and experiences in the comments, and don't forget to subscribe for more content like this.
