Is this BRAND NEW $40 mic a RODE KILLER?
I’d have to say…No.
$40 Shotgun Mic VS Rode VideoMic Pro | Comica CVM-V30 Lite
DISCLAIMER: This is an unbiased review. Comica sent me the microphone and asked for a review but I am NOT being paid to upsell this product to you.
This is the Comica CVM-V30 Lite microphone. It costs $39.99 on Amazon and can be plugged into your DSLR or your smartphone to record better audio.

In this video, I test and review this microphone using my Nikon D3300, my smartphone, and the Zoom H1 so you can hear a variety of example to hopefully give you a clear idea of this microphone’s recording capabilities. This mic is has a similar build of a Rode VideoMic Pro but with watered down features like the Rode VideoMicro.
I also show you guys a quick trick in Premiere Pro of how to boost
your audio levels without simply increasing the volume.
My final thoughts are that it sounded pretty good with my smartphone and with the Zoom H1. When plugged into the Zoom the microphone sounds pretty similar to the Rode so that’s the upside of it.
With my Nikon, there was an underlying hiss that I wasn’t thrilled about. It’s a quiet microphone so you’ll have to do some work on it in post. If you’re on a tight budget, you can get this mic but definitely plug it into an external recorder or your phone.
