This is a full start-to-finish look at a plaster ceiling medallion (also known as a ceiling rose) being hand-spun from plaster using a traditional horse and template. No moulds, no factory parts — just handcrafted skills learned through decades of working in the plastering trade.

This is Part 2 of the series. In Part 1, we built the tool. In this video, Andy uses it to run the ceiling rose layer by layer, combining ornamental plasterwork with the usual family banter along the way. It’s both highly informative and incredibly satisfying to watch.

🎯 WHAT YOU’LL LEARN IN THIS VIDEO
• How the muffle run is used to build strength in a ceiling medallion
• Mixing and layering plaster of Paris by hand
• Why burlap (scrim) is used as a traditional binder
• How the final spins sharpen the profile and bring the piece to life

Whether you’re a plasterer, involved in heritage restoration, or simply enjoy watching traditional craftsmanship, this is a process rarely shown in full today.
