Before a plaster ceiling rose (ceiling center) can be run, this setup has to be built first.

In this video, Andy shows the traditional process of making a plaster ceiling rose template and horse — often called a ceiling medallion setup in North America. This foundation work is essential before any plaster moulding (molding) can be run, and it’s built entirely by hand using techniques passed down for hundreds of years.

This is Part 1 of a two-part series on running a plaster ceiling rose. While this video focuses on building the template and horse on the workbench, it also explains how the system works and why accuracy at this stage is critical for the final result.
