With Bitwig Studio it's easy to combine any synthesizer (plugin or internal) with any filter (plugin or internal). In this video we walk through the technical process and discuss some practical applications. This technique is most often used when you want to add more filter movements to a sound than what the instrument provides in it's standard configuration. For example the minimoog has one filter so if you want to do additional sweeping you'll need more filters.
The other application is really for the experimental sound designers looking to swap out an instruments default filters with external plugins or even potentially hardware to create unique modular synthesizers and timbres.
