Everyone understands the dangers of asbestos. What many people do not realize, however, is that removal of asbestos in many cases may actually be more dangerous than leaving it in place and covering it with an asbestos sealer.

Asbestos removal can be dangerous if you have to break apart the asbestos, grind, sand, or otherwise send asbestos dust into the air when it is being removed.

Black mastic is often used in flooring products. It can be part of the flooring or can be part of the glue used to put down tile or carpeting. Safely removing mastic from the flooring is very difficult. Some people have tried mastic dissolvers, mastic strippers, and similar types of mastic removers. What they have found is that the mastic can still be too hard to remove safely.

How To Remove Mastic Safely?
To be honest, the best way to remove mastic safely is not to remove it at all. Instead of removing the mastic, you can use asbestos encapsulation paint to cover the mastic. Asbestos encapsulation paint meets all federal legal asbestos abatement and encapsulation guidelines and is the easiest way to make an area safe to use.

When you use non-toxic paint for asbestos encapsulation, you seal the flooring with the non-toxic paint, and the paint will bond with the mastic so that it does not come to the surface. This is the best way to eliminate exposure to asbestos without having to go through the dangerous process of removing the asbestos flooring.
