Piestewa Peak summit trail is the most popular hike in Phoenix, drawing thousands of visitors each week. The Freedom Trail is the one that circles Piestewa Peak and this is a far less frequented path. Laura and I also found the Freedom Trail to be a little more challenging cardio wise than the Summit Trail. Either option is amazing and they can be combined by the fit hiking enthusiast. The summer Months are not ideal for hiking in the Sonoran Desert so this Peak is best hiked Oct - April.
