10 Years
Ten years ago today I started this YouTube channel.
It was created because I wanted to share my creations to the world. I am very happy with the creative journey I've had up to this day. This video is a celebration of that journey.
2013 - The Beginnings
The first year of my channel wasn't very eventful. Only three videos were posted. The first two were replays from TF2, a game I used to play a lot around that time. The third one was a video where I basically asked people for ideas for what to make. I was eager to start making something on my new YouTube channel. I just had no idea what.
2014 - The First Real Videos
The second year is the year where I actually started making stuff for the YouTube channel. At first I just made short stop-motion tests and short videos for myself on my school iPad. But after me and my sibling collaborated on our first video together, 'How to Hunt an Alien Ostrich', the YouTube channel started becoming much more active. It was then decided that we would share the channel together. We continued making more comedy sketches. However there was also a lot of experimentation this year. I tried doing gameplay videos, and Meep showcased a few animations they made on our iPad. At the end of the year, Meep made 'A Stoppable Darkness'. A story based on the game FNAF. This would go on to become our first popular video, and would set a new direction for the YouTube channel.
2015 - The FNAF Craze
When 2015 rolled around, and 'A Stoppable Darkness' kept on getting many views, it was clear that making FNAF videos might draw a big audience. And so, gone were the days of making comedy sketches together. Now we would make videos separately and post them on the channel. Most of them of course being FNAF related! Meep would begin posting speedpaint videos, and I started making SFM animations. Of course the biggest videos were Meep's FNAF stories which got hundreds of thousands of views. 'The Evil Within Us All' is still today the most viewed video on this channel.
Another interesting thing about 2015 was that we actually joined Splay Gaming, a YouTube network which was made by Splay, the most popular YouTube network in Sweden. It was quite a surreal experience seeing our rollcall video on the official Splay Gaming channel (and also the many downvotes it got from people questioning if we were even a gaming channel hehe). The channel stayed in the YouTube network for five years.
2016 - The Experimentation Era
This year was a bit quieter than the last. The FNAF craze was slowly fading away and was replaced with the Undertale craze. Meep continued making many speedpaint videos, while I experimented with many different types of videos. I made my first and only Gmod video, and also a few SFM animations based on different things. 'Socks' was a video me and Meep collaborated on, and 'CocaKule' was pretty weird (but fun to make!). I also made the first Vargskelethor animation this year, which Joel later reacted to and almost made me faint.
2017 - Joel
In 2017 I made two big Joel Animations: 'Joel Meets Cortana' and 'Joel Goes Home'. The Cortana animation became my most popular video ever made, and it definitely motivated me to make more. This would be the last year where me and Meep would share the channel together.
2018 - More Joel
This year was also quieter than the last, but I made another big Joel Animation. 'Joelception' probably got the best reaction video by Joel, and it makes me happy to this day! However, after 'Joel Ducks Up' I wouldn't make any more Joel animations as I felt like I wanted to do something new.
2019 - Dreams
2019 was the year where I finally started making my own original creations again. With the release of Dreams I was able to make anything that I wanted. The result was a series of animations about Green Guy, a green lizard. What it was about I wasn't sure, but it seemed like the audience were able to somehow put the pieces together before I did. This was definitely a big turning point in my life, as I finally felt like I was making the stuff I truly wanted to make. I was starting to lose many subs at this point, but it didn't matter to me. I was just content with making stuff that makes me happy.
2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 - More Dreams
Since then I've made many Dreams animations and creations. I made my first short film 'The Snowball', which won the best narrative and best animation award from the Impy Awards. I'm still working on more Dreams stuff today at my own pace. School is taking high priority right now, but I will never stop sharing my creativity with you all.
It's been an honour getting to share my creativity with all of you. Here's to the next 10 years of creations!
