Today, only half of kids in the United States read and do math on grade level. The pandemic widened persistent achievement gaps. Our children’s learning and educational progress are issues deeply connected to issues of maternal health, family security and intergenerational prosperity.

In this fireside chat held at the recent Moms First Summit, Walton Family Foundation Education Program Director Romy Drucker spoke with two moms leading the charge to support America's students - Keri Rodrigues, president of the National Parents Union, and Maya Martin Cadogan, founder and executive director of Pave. They discussed how their approach to organizing for educational equity can be replicated in the fight for paid leave, child care and equal pay - which moms need to thrive.
