Moderate restoration of an Indian tulwar sword & scabbard
We were requested to moderately restore this Deccani tulwar sword. It was in very poor condition, the wootz steel hilt was badly corroded and the blade was way worse. The scabbard had snapped and alot of the original structure was rotten. We managed to clean up the blade without weakening it and removing all it's well earned age! The hilt required some structural work, but after some attention we managed to reveal a beautiful wootz pattern. The marriage between the blade & hilt was a little loose, so we prepared traditional Indian sword adhesive and re-hilted the sword to produce a solid connection. Finally we made a replacement scabbard and covered it with brown leather.
