New Volkswagen Passat Pro - Volkswagen Passat gets new generation only in China
Despite having been discontinued in Europe and renewed only in the station wagon configuration, the Passat will continue to live on in a new generation for customers in China. There, Volkswagen has just officially launched the newest generation and revealed all the details of the model that Europeans could have, but will not have. The sedan goes by the name Passat Pro and had its entire project developed in conjunction with SAIC, a partner of the Germans in the Chinese market for decades.
Internally identified by the codename B9, the Chinese Passat Pro follows the same visual guidelines as the Variant station wagon sold in Europe . In total, it measures 5,006 mm in length (58 mm more than its local predecessor), 1,850 mm in width (a gain of 14 mm) and 1,489 mm in height (an increase of 20 mm). The wheelbase, in turn, was maintained at 2,871 mm. For comparison purposes, the length of the European station wagon is 4,917 mm and the wheelbase is 2,841 mm.
The interior follows the design and technology standards of Volkswagen 's latest releases , including separate screens for the instrument panel and multimedia system. There is no traditional gear selector and, instead of a rotary knob or knob, the brand chose to add a lever to the steering column. At the same time, there is still an important difference compared to the European station wagon: the dashboard received a third display exclusively for the front passenger.
The equipment list includes features such as heated and ventilated seats (all seats also have a massage function, in addition to being able to have headrests with built-in speakers), head-up display, wireless charging for cell phones and various electronic assistants.
