Nicole Vanderheyden, a mother of three, was found dead in a field in Green Bay, Wisconsin, on May 21, 2016. Her boyfriend, Doug Detrie, was initially suspected due to their argument the previous night and his delayed report of her missing. However, evidence, including Fitbit data, exonerated Doug, and the investigation continued. DNA found on Nicole's socks matched George Burch, a 40-year-old man who had been living in Green Bay for three months. George's phone records and location data placed him at the scene of the crime, and he was arrested and later convicted of Nicole's murder. George was sentenced to life in prison without parole, and the judge described the crime as the most heinous in Brown County's history.
