I have always loved this song and covering it has given me a greater appreciation for The Beatle's writing and George Martin's arranging.
There was a program some years ago where different artists under the direction of George Martin attempted to re-record the songs from Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band with a four track recorder. Most of the artists did well, but one act really struggled with the process.
Of course I'm not using a four track, but I wanted to record everything in single takes and film myself doing it at the same time instead of my usual of just miming to the track afterwards. How I usually record, if I make a mistake, I could always just edit it and dub over that one section. There are mistakes in this, but after everything was mixed I think that it all turned out fairly well. Also, some mistakes turned into neat sound combinations.
I tried to meld two Beatles songs into one for the conclusion of this song as a twist, because what fun is it to do a carbon copy of something? 😉
