Showcasing the newly revamped "Power Up" chapter from the Definitive Edition of Black Mesa, which has now released as a free update to the base game. Featuring an excellent level design change that forces Gordon to navigate most of the level in darkness, and results in a more intense and harrowing encounter with the Garg before he is able to kill it with the static discharge. This update really makes Black Mesa's version a lot better than HL1's. Gave me a ton of "Lowlife" vibes from Episode One.

The Definitive Edition of Black Mesa is the free final major content update for the game, and includes a long list of level design changes, new art and bug fixes. Among these changes is a complete revamp of the Power Up chapter. The major changes are detailed below.
Major lighting overhaul throughout the entire chapter
New Garg intro, utilizing the dynamic lighting of the dev's Source engine build to great effect
The lights in the facility shut off after the Garg destroys the transformers, forcing Gordon to have to navigate to the generator room in darkness
The pathway to the electrical room is open to begin with, and is where Gordon must first go to evade the Garg. He makes his way to the Guard via vent, which drops him down in the area where the Vorts spawn in
The plugs in the electrical room are replaced with switches that Gordon must use to power up the static discharge after restoring power
The Garg has a new attack when Gordon is crawling along the piping in the transformer room
The HECU combat sequence above the generator room has been tweaked in terms of how they attack Gordon
Houndeyes no longer all attack Gordon from the same direction when he descends the stairs
