Nordic walking poles can withstand a longitudinal load of up to 140 kg. They have a very high safety margin. During normal walking, even a heavy person only partially supports themselves with the poles. The load is distributed evenly between the legs and arms. However, they can be easily broken:
during an unsuccessful descent;
if a foot gets caught or a fall occurs on a pole;
if a pole gets caught in a manhole, grate, or between your legs;
due to carelessness or children's play;
if they are used improperly, such as for self-defense against a dog or human attack.
Don't worry, life is full of surprises. Aluminum poles will most often bend, and carbon poles will break if you leave them on the ground and accidentally step on them. Breakages or cracks are more common in skiing; in Nordic walking, the extreme sport is less common.
Pole repair is possible. Find out how to do it yourself or request a tour at nordicwalking.by
