ABOUT THE PERFORMANCE & BAND:
Formed out of a shared lifelong obsession with Prince that started back in their college days at UC Santa Cruz, PRINCESS (featuring Maya Rudolph & Gretchen Lieberum) delivers a high-energy, loving homage to the Purple One. Opening their set with "Let's Go Crazy," Maya and Gretchen bring incredible vocal harmonies, iconic stage presence, and pure joy to Prince's legendary music.
ABOUT THE SONG:
Written and produced by Prince, "Let's Go Crazy" is the explosive opening track and lead single from the iconic 1984 album and movie Purple Rain. Famous for its iconic church-organ intro and preacher-style monologue ("Dearly beloved..."), the song fuses hard rock, funk, and gospel while encouraging listener perseverance against "de-elevator" (a metaphor for sin and negativity). It became Prince's second #1 single on the Billboard Hot 100.
