A descriptive essay is one which describes the subject matter in detail, without giving an opinion about it. A descriptive essay's thesis statement can also be considered as the topic sentence or main idea. The thesis statement for this essay includes only the topic and key features of the essay.

Key battles of World War 1 include the Battle of Marne, the Battle of Gallipoli and the Battle of Jutland.

The Sahara Desert has principal topographical features such as shallow, seasonally inundated basins and large oasis depressions.
TOPIC -- news summary
KEY FEATURES --- incident, people involved, location
Southern California reports increased incidences of fires and robberies in 2021.
