Thesis Statement: Analytical essay
An analytical essay analyzes the significance of subject matter by evaluating and criticizing it.
The thesis statement for such papers is usually supported with evidence. An analytical thesis statement usually begins with the words, "An analysis of..." followed by the topic. After mentioning the topic, include the breakdown of the analysis in the order in which it appears in the essay.
EXAMPLE:
Topic: global climate crisis
Analysis: one challenge
Order1: applying sanctions
Order2: making it illegal
"An analysis of the global climate crisis reveals one challenge facing environmentalists: applying sanctions on use of harmful chemicals or considering the use of harmful chemicals illegal."
