@IPPSA is coming and it's changing the way HR PROs will do business... and Semi-Centralized Promotions rules will change to.
In the eMILPO era, semi-centralized promotions has changed several times. We used to rely almost entirely on DA Forms and EDAS, then we moved to the PPW and EDAS, and now we rely almost exclusively on eMILPO and the PPW. But, throughout all that change, HR PROs and Leaders still did the same things—Selected, Boarded, Promoted.
IPPS-A isn't some huge paradigm shift... it just bins promotions into three phases: Pre-Board, Board and Post Board and so it's really no different except now we're doing a lot of it inside of one matrix instead of three.
Currently, the AAA-294 is an eMILPO generated report that the BNS1 runs on or about the 20th of the month, proceeding the board month (so for the June board, the report is run on 20th of May). Each COMPANY CDR receives their own AAA-294, makes their recommendations, signs and returns it to the BNS1.
In IPPS-A, it's called the Promotion Consideration Roster (PCR) and the Commander will access this report through IPPS-A (without being prompted). Most importantly, the PCR is accessed between the 1st and 11th of the promotion month... so for the June Board, the PCR is updated between the 1st and 11th of June.
