Spartan’s actually became so well known for this that to this day, this form of dry humor is known laconism.
Peppered throughout the game Kratos gets lines like this and I just feel like its really fun and creative way the writers went about making him believable as a Spartan warrior.
Mimir's Personality Breaks Up God of War's Intensity with Humor
Mimir possesses a cheery, witty, and occasionally sarcastic sense of humor that perfectly breaks up the intensity of God of War.
I also love the way they portray Kratos’ sense of humor in the game. Throughout his dialogue’s with Atreus and other characters Kratos’ will occasionaly make comments that are dry, too the point, and yet poignantly funny. He has a laconic sense of humor and I think its brilliant on the part of the writers to do that for him. This is because the word laconic comes from the name of Laconia, a region in the southern part of Greece where Sparta is located. You see Spartan’s in addition to being famous as mighty warriors were also known for their dry wit. For example when a Persian envoy said to a unit of Spartan soldiers that their arrows will blot out the sun one soldier replied, “then we will fight in the shade.”
