Factory for growing cherries in huge quantities! How are they collected and sorted?
Founded in 2017, Agrarco offers an unmatched selection of the highest-quality fresh fruits and hazelnuts. The company is engaged in cultivation, production and export of its own produce with more than 350 ha of fruit orchards and more than 1600 ha of hazelnut orchards.
Fruit orchards are located in the district of Qusar, the northern region of Azerbaijan, far from big cities and highways. This location guarantees environmentally clean and high quality products. Agrarco cultivates a wide variety of fruits such as apples, pears, nectarines, peaches, apricots, plums, cherry and quince. Once harvested, fruits are further sorted and stored in Agro-complex in Qusar – facilities that include refrigerated storage with the capacity of 5000 tons as well as fruits sorting and packaging lines. This equipment allows the detection of caliber, color, and external defect of the fruits. Growing, packing, and shipping of the produce allows Agrarco to be directly involved in quality control and have a deep integration with each step of the fruit’s journey, therefore providing potential customers with a consistently high-quality product. The fruits are mainly exported except for a small share encashed in domestic market.
Hazelnut orchards are located in the Northern and North-western regions of Azerbaijan. These regions are widely known for having the most favorable climatic conditions for growing hazelnuts. The company has more than doubled the area of hazelnut plantations, so most of the orchards are new. For now the company can produce around 600 tons of hazelnuts from its own orchards. Agrarco has recently been involved in the traceability project with ADB that will help in tracing up to 30% of its own harvest.
