Did you know that risky play can actually reduce your child’s risk of injury? 🤯

This is because little ones learn through play! Activities like climbing play structures, fast games of tag, building forts, and interacting with natural elements all have an element of risk. By navigating these, your child discovers how the world works and how to move their body in it safely 👏

To support your child the next time they're engaging in risky play, instead of reminding them to “be careful,” try using more specific terms that can turn the moment into a learning opportunity. Some examples that may apply include:

“Take your time.”
“Do you feel safe there?”
“How will you get across/get down?”
“I’m helping you get down because this is not safe.”
